Teen Advisory Council
Youth Resources' TEEN ADVISORY COUNCIL began in 1987 with 12 students and now has over 120 members. These dedicated high school students meet every other Friday morning at 5:55 AM to:
- Identify community problems & discuss solutions
- Screen Make A Difference Grant proposals
- Develop leadership skills
- Plan community events
- Create a network of peer and adult friends from Vanderburgh & Warrick Counties
- Serve the community
- Have fun!
TAC members also have the unique opportunity to interact with community leaders Including Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel, Vanderburgh County Sheriff Eric Williams, Evansville City Council members, Vanderburgh County Commissioners, E-VSC School Board members, business and nonprofit executives, and other adult mentors dedicated to improving our community.
Serving on the Teen Advisory Council prepares youth for the challenges they will face in the future as college students, employees, employers and volunteers while encouraging them to be a positive force in our community today.
Membership Requirements
- Attend all meetings
- Serve on one of five TAC committees (Service, Leadership, Governance, Outreach or Special Events)
- Complete 15 hours of community service per semester
- Shadow a member of the Evansville City Council, Vanderburgh County Commissioners or E-VSC School Board
The Youth Resources Teen Advisory Council was recently awarded the Youth Award at Leadership Evansville’s 2010 Celebration of Leadership for their dedication to servant leadership in our local community!
