TAC 20-21 Year May Look Different Than Ever Before, But the Focus on Servant Leadership Remains

It’s official—YR’s Teen Advisory Council (TAC) is back in action and we couldn’t be more excited! On Friday, August 14, TAC held its first meeting of the 2020-21 school year virtually on a Zoom call. Although it was a very different start than we’ve had in years past, everyone was so excited to be able to meet their new committees. With so many changes this year in all aspects of our lives, still being able to have our TAC mornings, virtual or in-person, is a really comforting thought. It’s nice to know that regardless of what kind of craziness is happening at school or within our community, TAC is still there to look forward to every other Friday!

August 14 TAC Meeting held over Zoom – still bright and early!

To prepare for our first meeting, TAC’s Executive Committee had many socially-distanced trainings where we brainstormed games, icebreakers and other fun activities for committees to create relationships with their other members. While talking with inReach Committee Co-Chair Cora Creekmur, a sophomore at North High School, about the first meeting, she said she loved playing “Two Truths and a Lie” with her committee. She is most excited to help new TAC members create a positive and supportive environment and to also help them learn all about TAC.

During the meeting we also discussed topics like new requirements for this year and how excited we all were to kick off the TAC year!

First in-person TAC Meeting August 28 was luau themed

Two weeks later, we were able to safely have our first in-person TAC meeting at the C.K. Newsome Center. It was so good to see everyone and know they were smiling behind the masks.

Though our meetings will look different this year, remember we’re all in this together. No matter the circumstance, TAC is back and is here to stay!
